What Exactly is Barre?

Over the past few years, I noticed that "Barre" was on the rise.
Since I'm always looking for what our MissFit ladies would enjoy and benefit from, I started asking...

What is Barre anyway?

Perhaps you've wondered the same. So, here's what I discovered!
Barre is a really cool fitness approach that combines three elements:

  1. Ballet - You'll do booty-lifting movements, such as plies and tendus. 
  2. Pilates - Great for strengthening your core & improving your posture.
  3. Yoga - To increase your balance & flexibility

After learning that Barre combined all these modalities, I knew that the ladies at Camp MissFits would LOVE IT.
And it has NOT disappointed!

While our team trains ladies of all ages, most of our gals are on the "more mature" side.😉

That means most of us aren't looking to challenge our bodies with high-intensity box jumps or Olympic lifts.

We want to move better, feel better, and have a high quality of life as we age.

That's where Barre comes in because it's:

  • Low impact - so it's joint friendly.
  • High intensity in a non-jumpy way - we practice "time under tension" with small, isometric movements that BURN your muscles. 🔥
  • Challenging - for your balance, core, and posture - which is everything we wanna work on!

Most importantly, MissFits Barre is FUN.

Because everything we do is in a MissFits kind of way....so, you won't find any perfect-form ballerinas at our Littleton studio.

Well, except our lovely instructor Emily - who might just make you cry a little with a squishy ball & one-pound dumbbell! 😂
