At Camp MissFits, we normally work out with shoes on.
However, we encourage ladies to train barefoot or with special "grip" socks when taking our Barre or Pilates classes.👣
Why?
There are soooo many reasons. Here are our top three:
- Improved Balance and Stability: Without shoes, your feet can fully engage with the ground, enhancing proprioception (your body’s awareness of its position). This leads to better balance and stability during exercises.
Stronger Feet and Ankles: Being barefoot activates smaller stabilizing muscles in the feet and ankles, increasing their strength and flexibility, which can help prevent injuries.
Wanna test it for yourself? Try standing on one foot with shoes on. Then, do it again without shoes. Wow, what a huge difference! You'll feel every little muscle in your foot & ankle! 😲- Enhanced Alignment and Form: Direct contact with the floor allows for better feedback on your posture and alignment, helping you maintain proper form throughout movements.
Did you know that in Traditional Chinese Medicine, they believe that health begins from the ground up - starting with the feet?
In fact, maintaining healthy, strong, and flexible feet positively impacts the entire body's well-being.
So, grab some grip or toe socks, and let's focus on your feet in our flow-based classes! Your whole body will benefit as a result. 💪
